Windows Live Writer! TRY THIS!
Posted by Nico Yan in General Friday, 27 April 2007 12:17 No Comments
Though it is still in beta, I really prefer this than any of the blog editors in the internet. I’ve been using it for quite some time now, and I might say that is my editor of choice.
I’m using a Wordpress powered weblog, this tool free up my time going online and logging in just to post.
Though it doesn’t give much wysiwyg-type of functionality, it has some great plugins to support one’s need.
Here is some information I got from the main site;
WYSIWYG Authoring
The first thing to notice about Writer is that it enables true WYSIWYG blog authoring. You can now author your post and know exactly what it will look like before you publish it. Writer knows the styles of your blog such as headings, fonts, colors, background images, paragraph spacing, margins and block quotes and enables you to edit your post using these styles.
Writer also includes other views including HTML source-code editing and web preview mode.
Now you don’t have to waste time going through the process of publishing, refreshing, previewing, and tweaking your post to get it looking the way you want. It’s all right there in Writer as you create your post.
Photo Publishing Once you’ve inserted the picture, Writer provides contextual editing tools to modify size, text wrapping, borders, and apply graphic effects. Writer also allows you specify a smaller thumbnail to that will link to a larger image for detailed viewing. Photos can be either uploaded directly to your weblog provider (if they support the newMediaObject API) or to an FTP server. Even better is that the map can be customized directly within Writer – including changing the view to show road, aerial or bird’s eye detail and by adding pushpins (including custom links and/or photos for each pushpin). When readers click on the map they get a larger view on the Windows Live Local site. The Windows Live Writer SDK allows developers to extend the capabilities of Writer to publish additional content types. Examples of content types that can be added include: We can’t wait to see all the things people cook up with the SDK! Writer supports RSD (Really Simple Discoverability), the Metaweblog API, and the Movable Type API. We want Writer to work well with every blogging service out there. If you can’t get Writer to work with your blog, we want to know. Writer makes inserting, customizing, and uploading photos to your blog a snap. You can insert a photo into your post by browsing image thumbnails through the “Insert Picture†dialog or by copying and pasting from a web page.
Map Publishing Whether you are blogging about a vacation or a political conflict, maps are a great help in engaging the imagination of your readers. You can do this using Writer’s ability to insert a Windows Live Local map directly into a post.
Writer SDK Already thinking of other cool stuff you want to insert into your blog? Good!
Compatibility Writer is a great client for Windows Live Spaces but also works with other weblogs including Blogger, LiveJournal, TypePad, WordPress (Custom Installation), Wordpress.com, Movable Type, Radio Userland, Community Server and dasBlog.

Adobe Photoshop CS3
Posted by Nico Yan in Uncategorized Wednesday, 25 April 2007 08:08 No Comments
I’ve just Adobe Photoshop CS3 in the office, it’s pretty big, and I might say its pretty impressive at first though I havent really used it much.
I’ll put it into the test later on at work. Though I’ve checked the memory usage it use which lands from 130K (Task manager). I won’t wonder because the installations needs 1.1gb of free space before you can install it.
Oh, I got the Adobe Photoshop CS3 Extended version. I’m gonna get the Adobe Creative Suite 3 Design Premium.
Also here are some highlights (new stuffs) on Adobe Photoshop CS3:
For Everyone
Bridge CS3
Bridge has plenty of great new features like a Loupe view of your photos and better ways to sort and compare photos to make it easier to find your keepers and losers. There’s also photo stacking, quick thumbnail previews, and easier ways to see your metadata.
Cloning
Cloning just got easier with the brand new addition of the Clone Source palette. Right under the Window menu, you now have an entirely new way to make the cloning process simpler and more intuitive.
Refine Edges Dialog
This is a brand spankin’ new dialog that will show up in the
Options Bar any time you create a selection. It allows you to preview your selection edges over different backgrounds so you can see just how it’s going to look. It shows up no matter what tool you use to create a selection and it’s there to do just what it says—refine your selection edges. It’s pretty cool, too. You can feather your selection on the fly and get a live preview of what it’ll look like so there’s no guessing involved.
The Quick Select tool is a brand new tool that lives up to its name. It automatically senses the edges of the object you’re trying to select and snaps the selection into place. Think of it as the Magic Wand tool on steroids.
For Photographers
Black and White Adjustment
This is one that’s a long time overdue. Now CS3 has a dedicated way to turn a color photo into a black and white. No more tricks of the trade for black and whites. You’ve got a new adjustment and it has a ton of settings that allow you to control just how your black and whites look.
Photoshop CS3 also includes a new version of Camera Raw—Camera Raw 4.0. You’ll find a lot of cool features that are similar to Photoshop Lightroom such as a Highlight Recovery slider and Fill Light controls. Plus, you have Split Toning controls as well as a Grayscale mixer to create killer black and whites right inside of Camera Raw.
Auto AlignEver take a photo of a group where one person had his eyes shut? So, what do you do? Naturally, you’d take another photo. But then, cousin Jimmy wasn’t smiling and Grandma Emily would be devastated if everyone didn’t look his best. That’s where Auto Align comes in. It automatically aligns two photos to make it easier to include the best shots of everyone in the final image.
New Curves Interface
Curves got a facelift in CS3. Now, you can see the Histogram behind the Curve as well as get some options for fine-tuning the way your curve looks.
For DesignersVanishing Point
The Vanishing Point filter now includes the ability to wrap graphics around planes other than a straight 90-degree angle.
Smart Filters
WooooHoooo! Filters no longer have to create a permanent change to your layer. With the new smart filters you can easily apply filters to your layers and go back and change their settings at any time. I have to say: This one rocks!
General Ease of Use and Other Improvements
Enhanced Interface
The enhanced interface gives you a great deal of control over the areas of Photoshop you use most. There’s a new quick palette area that gives you access to commonly used tools and presets. There are also preferences for auto hiding and collapsing palettes when you’re not using them.
Web Photo Gallery
The Web Photo Gallery is now actually called the Adobe Media Gallery and it’s pretty darn sweet. There are plenty of killer ways to show off your photos and images in great web layouts.
And there you have it. Adobe included something for everyone in this new release so whether you’re a photographer, graphic designer, or anyone who just loves using Photoshop to organize and edit your photos, you’ll want to try out the beta release. Also, make sure you check out the most comprehensive resource out there for Photoshop CS3 beta over at the National Association of Photoshop Professionals CS3 Learning Center.

Curiousity is knowledge! (part I)
Posted by Nico Yan in Uncategorized Wednesday, 25 April 2007 07:28 No Comments
I’ve been curious about rhinoplasty so I’ve reaearched it in the net and these are what I’ve found out (I WON’T DO THIS, it’s just for your information). I’m happy with everything in my body hehehehe.
What is Rhinoplasty?
Rhinoplasty is a nose-reshaping surgery that can correct deformities or make subtle aesthetic changes for cosmetic purposes. This article explains the procedure and the various rhinoplasty techniques.
Who are the best candidates for rhinoplasty?
Rhinoplasty can enhance your appearance and your self-confidence, but it won’t necessarily change your looks to match your ideal, or cause other people to treat you differently. Before you decide to have surgery, think carefully about your expectations and discuss them with your surgeon.
The best candidates for rhinoplasty are people who are looking for improvement, not perfection, in the way they look. If you’re physically healthy, psychologically stable, and realistic in your expectations, you may be a good candidate.
Age may also be a consideration. Many plastic surgeons prefer not to operate on teenagers until after they’ve completed their growth spurt-around 14 or 15 for girls, a bit later for boys. It’s important to consider teenagers’ social and emotional adjustment, too, and to make sure it’s what they, and not their parents, really want.
