For The Old

By Nico Yan On June 26, 2008 Under Family, Personal

Here in the Philippines we take care of our elderly, but to some countries they find people or places with high assisted living facility ratings just to be sure that their elderly will be taken care of properly.

What I don’t get is that once in their life they where taken care of by those elderly people and now they won’t take responsibility, having other to that for them.

Even if you say it’s because the culture then its lame, why? because its just an excuse for not taking more responsibility. Is taking care of someone whom loved you back then that hard to give back?

I’ll take care of my parents when they grow old, and if my child ask why? I’ll say “Because they took care of me when I was also small and fragile”, so that my child will know another part of love.

I definitely agree. I just can’t imagine my Mama and Papa living with strangers on their tender and fragile years. My gosh! They’ll be aged by that time, full of wisdom, that’s true, but very emotional. I just can’t hurt my folks by throwing them out to another shelter. I’ll take good care of them as much as they’ve taken care of me and love me all my life. They deserve the best.
